About GM Groups

The History

Garry McCloe launched GM Freight in 1978 as an independent route driver in Detroit. Garry and Ann married in 1981 and became partners in the business with six drivers working for them. Over the next 15 years they grew their business to six locations in Michigan, Ohio, and South Florida. In 1998, they saw an opportunity to enter the express package market to further diversify their business and launched AAustin when they were awarded their first Airborne contract in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.  Garry and Ann's firstborn, Adam, joined the company in 2008 and shortly after their second born, Austin, joined in 2012. With their youth and drive, they brought many innovative solutions to the business for fleet and other internal processes.
